Breakfast dishes on a table at Nessa

A meal at Nessa, Soho

Review of restaurant & bar

Nessa opened a year or so ago, on a corner between elegant Regent Street and lively Soho. It occupies the ground floor on the corner of Brewer and Warwick Street. The kitchen is managed by chef Tom Cenci (formerly Duck & Waffle and Loyal Tavern) who has created classic dishes that champion seasonality with an inventive, playful twist.

Amber and I at Nessa

The bar at Nessa has an expansive wine list and lively cocktails to be enjoyed both day and night, and is dog friendly which is great of course. I have already visited a few times, for breakfast, drinks, brunch and love the ambience and the food of course. It’s elegant but informal, the service is professional and efficient.

Dishes we love at breakfast

One of my favourite breakfast dishes is Tom’s “Not Avocado On Toast” (as avocado is NOT sustainable) which is toasted sourdough with delightful crushed broad beans, chilli, and herbs (and I promise you’d not miss the actual avocado). We are also partial to the “Banana French Toast” with maple butter, caramelised pecans, satisfying and mouthwatering.

Our favourite bar snacks

Aperitivo or birthday celebration, Nessa is the perfect spot. They do great cocktails, classic and signature (our fave is the Boho Negroni, East London Gin, Nectarine, Mancino Ambrato, Luxardo Bianco, saffron) and do a great selection of bar snacks. We recently celebrated my husband’s big – very big – birthday and everyone loved the sharing dishes. The BBQ spiced crisps and the french fries were both out of this world, truly incredible; other standouts from the Bar Snacks menu were the Welsh Rarebit and the wild garlic risotto (seasonal).

So what are you waiting for?

I can’t recommend Nessa enough and already plan to go back in June with friends from the USA. They have also opened rooftop eaterie Yasmin which could be perfect for my summer birthday breakfast. To book and for more info visit the Nessa website.
