Fundraising Supperclub

Occasionally, around every 6 months or so, I organise fundraising meals at our home in London. So far, these have been showcasing regional Italian cuisine, covering the areas more close to my heritage: Cilento, Napoli, Abruzzo and Sardinia. My sister Troppo Buono usually comes over from Italy to help, laden with produce often donated, and @bmcboy runs FoH. We also often receive help by friends (with waitressing, cooking) and we are grateful for all the regulars that have been attending our meals, and supporting worthy causes such as FAI. We even had a guest chef: Guan The Boy Who Ate The World cooked an amazing Malaysian feast last may to raise funds for the Orangutan Appeal UK. So far, we have raised over £1,500 for a variety of causes!

Our next, forthcoming in the series of #Discover meal will be covering another area of southern Italy which is part of Campania region, and it’s called Sannio. It was recently hit by terrible floods which caused destruction to a lot of local producers, from pasta to wine makers. We’d like to showcase the local heritage through food once again, while at the same time raising funds for a local project (which we’re identifying as we speak)

Benevento: continua l'assistenza dei volontari Anpas

Discover Sannio – fundraising lunch,  28 February 2016

Sannio and Irpinia are two areas of the Campania region, centered around the beautiful city of Benevento primarily. While they share some culinary heritage with Napoli and surroundings, they also have a specific identity and traditions which we’ll aim to showcase as well as possible. At the same time, we aim to raise funds to support some of the projects in the area, following the devastating floods of October 2015 which left many local producers with extensive damages and financial losses. Among these, solopaca wine producers and Rummo pasta makers. Our menu will likely include:

  • Rummo Scarpariello – a vegetarian, delicious pasta dish
  • Minesta del Cardone – an earthy, foraged vegetable soup
  • Carne ai peperoni – a traditional meaty main
  • Apple dessert – using local DOP variety Annurca
  • A surprise dessert by 2015 MasterChef the Professionals finalist Danilo Cortellini

We will ask for a minimum donation of £30 and all profits will go to a non profit / charitable local project which we’re identifying at the moment, likely to be Museo del Sannio.

Please contact us for availability and booking – we are taking bookings now, but places are limited so be quick! We will be asking all guests to pay a deposit of £10 to secure their place, which will be nonrefundable after 20 Feb due to the costs involved in running this event.

We hope you can join us on what promises to be a not to be missed opportunity!

We are grateful to the following companies who are supporting our event by providing their excellent products and ingredients for free or at a discount:

The event will be a late lunch and will be hosted in a central London location (near Waterloo station). We are currently FULL!

A deposit of £10 per person will be payable upon booking confirmation – this is due to avoid costly no shows and late cancellations. We will be able to refund it only until 20 Feb.

Unfortunately we are unable to cater for vegetarians and / or food intolerances and allergies due to the specific type of event and we advise any vegetarian please not to come, there is a lot of meat in the menu! We will however do our best to accommodate people’s needs so do let us know of anything. A lovely little dog lives in our home, so please do not join if you are allergic or afraid of dogs.
