Book event at Pulia
Pulia London hosted the UK presentation of Italian marketing handbook Marketing del Gusto by food marketing experts Slawka G. Scarso and Luciana Squadrilli. While the book is in Italian, the topics covered are of interest to a wider, international audience and Pulia provided the perfect setting for a gathering of industry experts, bloggers, marketeers and food lovers.
Marketing for the food industry
Around 30 people gathered to hear from the authors on why using such a handbook is important especially for small enterprises where sometimes the chef is the very same person dealing with accounts, front of the house as well as social media and why this is not an ideal prospect.
The authors, moderated by yours truly, covered the dos and don’ts of marketing in the food industry with some interesting examples. Georges Thome from Pulia also intervened putting forward his own point of view as restaurant owner and highlighting that success is not just about the produce, which of course needs to be excellent but also on how to tell a story about it and involve people that way.
After the presentations, guests mingled over an aperitif and some delicious nibbles from the beautiful southern Italian region kindly offered by Pulia, which included their famous cheeses and cold cuts and the sparkling Bombino wine. It was great to see so many familiar faces and London food & wine scene representatives, so thank you everyone who attended the event!
The book is available to purchase via Amazon and other retailers also in ebook format.
