Press release: COMO Castello del Nero

A true wellness retreat in the heart of Chianti.

I received the press release on the reopening of the stunning COMO Castello Del Nero in Tuscany which I am happy to share on this blog. I was recently invited to try the Castello Del Nero London’s a Taste of Tuscany dinner on behalf of Identita’ Golose.

The property

Il Castello Del Nero a historic 3 hectare estate in the famous Chianti wine region in Italy, and COMO’s first property in continental Europe. The Renaissance cities of Florence and Siena are both reachable in 30 minutes by car. At the center of the structure stands a 12th century castle with 50 rooms and suites and interiors curated by the Milanese designer Paola Navone.

The Michelin-starred restaurant La Torre offers gourmet Italian cuisine, using the best Tuscan products, mostly from the garden, vineyard, beehives and olive groves of our estate. There are two casual restaurants, La Taverna and the Pavilion. Additionally, there are tennis courts and a heated outdoor swimming pool. The COMO Spa Shambhala Retreat offers daily yoga classes to residents, therapeutic massage and an expert guide in holistic wellness.

After the seasonal closure, COMO Castello Del Nero reopens on 1 April with new experiences in the name of holistic well-being and local culture. From the Qigong and Yoga Retreat to the invigorating rituals offered by the Spa, to the healthy cuisine of COMO Shambhala, there will be many well-being proposals for the coming months.

Yoga and Qigong with James Rafael

This summer, reconnect to yourself with the healing power of Tuscany’s bountiful nature and the close guidance of yoga and Qi Gong expert, James Rafael. Over five nights, engage in twice-daily practices: morning practices will be gentle, leaving you feeling calm in body and mind, while afternoon practices will be energising with more detailed guidance in the postures and movements. You’ll experience a physical, mental, or meditative sense of progression across the week as James introduces you to ancient philosophies, poetry, and sacred texts — to offer reflection, inspire and uplift.

Guests can embark on a series of gastronomic experiences immersed in Tuscan culture. Tastings of wine, olive oil and honey – also of own production – can be organized in the 12th century cellar in the original part of the Castle. Guests can also participate in private cooking classes with starred chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro, who will teach the secrets of classic Tuscan and Italian dishes, from tiramisu to perfect pasta and lead participants to discover the property’s new organic garden. guests passionate about art and culture can take advantage of a new series of themed tours of Art and Architecture, between Florence, Pisa, Lucca and San Gimignano.
