Press release – Adam Handling opens new flagship restaurant Frog

Chef Adam Handling just launched his latest venture Frog by Adam Handling, with an invite-only party filled with industry friends and familiar faces from the London foodie scene. The Covent Garden restaurant becomes the new flagship for his group. Having been a fan of his since his Masterchef days, we were delighted to attend the party and congratulate Adam on this latest, elegant venture.

Press announcement

The new restaurant on Southampton Street offers a slightly more formal experience than his restaurant in Shoreditch, although Adam didn’t let any formalities get in the way of the launch party with sets from two of London’s favourite DJs including Nick Grimshaw.

Guests included top-tier press, influencers and industry guests including prominent London chefs Ollie Dabbous, Sabrina Gidda, Hayden Groves, and Vivek Singh. Guests were greeted with glasses of Ambriel English sparkling classic cuvée and rose, as well as sampling signature cocktail including the Adam’s Apple  (which I absolutely loved) and Endeavour, and own-label Frog session IPA in collaboration with Brewheadz. Snacks of whipped cod’s roe and Adam’s renowned Cheese and Truffle doughnuts were served, alongside restaurant dishes including Roasted Roots, Burrata and Lemon balm, and Plaice, Caviar, Dulse which epitomised Adam’s distinctive cooking style and confirmed his unwavering passion for the use of best possible produce combined with technical savvy.

The restaurant interior has been designed by Offbeat Interiors, who have called on skilled craftsmen to make bespoke items for the majority of the restaurant furnishings. The colour scheme has evolved to create a warm and luxurious yet contemporary environment to complement Adam’s food. An open-plan kitchen at the heart of the restaurant and the beautiful private dining room below convey the same level of refinement that Adam echoes in his cooking.

Adorning the walls of the restaurant are artworks by JJ Adams, which were specially commissioned by Adam for the restaurant. Fast becoming one of the UK’s most talked about artists, JJ uses a range of new and mixed media in his work which varies from spray paint and hand painting acrylics to screen printing, collage and digital matte painting, as well as photography. The large piece depicting Piccadilly Circus got me and @bmcboy talking for a while!

The night ended with the unveiling of Adam’s first venture into the bar arena, Eve. Nestled into the basement of the restaurant, Eve combines decadence and temptation with theatrically stunning and irresistibly indulgent drinks designed by Bar Manager, Tim Laferla. Artworks in the bar have been specially created by artist Courty, who explores and pushes the boundaries of handmade neon light use in the world of art and sculpture.

I can’t wait to go back for a sit down meal as soo as I can book a baby sitter again!
